Anchor Distilling Company Opens Its Doors to the Public for the First Time in 23 Years
Come Discover, Smell and Taste San Francisco’s Craft Distilling History

You may already be familiar with the iconic and more than a century-old Anchor Brewing Company, in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill. But what you probably don’t know is that the historic brewery is also the home of Anchor Distilling Company, established in 1993 as a top secret project led by visionary and craft beverage pioneer, Fritz Maytag. After 23 years, Anchor Distilling Company is opening our doors to the public with the launch of The Anchor Distilling Tasting Room.

The one-hour intimate seated tastings are $35 per person. Seats are limited so reservations are highly recommended.

Guests will begin the tasting with a quick stroll through Anchor’s own edible roof garden, planted with botanicals used to make our fine spirits. Then our beverage expert will guide you through Anchor’s unique production process and help you explore the flavors and aromas of Anchor’s iconic spirits. Each guest will have the opportunity to taste Junípero Gin, Genevieve Gin, Old Tom Gin, HOPHEAD Vodka, Old Potrero 18th Century Whiskey, and Old Potrero Straight Rye Whiskey.

After blazing a new trail in the beer industry, sparking America’s craft-brewing renaissance, in 1993 Fritz Maytag and his team began a top secret project that would revolutionize craft distilling. It was a time when rye whiskey was not popular, and not a single rye whiskey produced in the United States was 100 percent rye. In 1994, leading the return of craft distilling in the United States, Fritz filled his first barrel of 100% rye whisky, which would later become known as Old Potrero. Two years later, Junípero Gin was created, America’s first craft gin.

Today, America is in the midst of a boom in rye, craft whiskeys, and craft gins; and it can be directly traced back to San Francisco and Fritz Maytag of Anchor Brewers and Distillers.

Anchor Distilling’s Tasting Room is a unique, exclusive, and historic San Francisco experience.

The tastings take place at Anchor Brewers and Distillers 1705 Mariposa Street, San Francisco, CA 94107
