The fine folks at the Little Red Door in Paris, France have put together a great little video about their “Poor Willy’s Mule” cocktail using Hophead Vodka, Lurisia Il No Chinotto and something called Christmas Morning Syrup. I have no idea what that is, but it sounds incredible.
It’s a new year, and we’re back to being full steam ahead here on the Anchor Distilling Company Blog. We have a bit of catching up to do, starting with this excellent article about Japanese Whisky by the Wall Street Journal. The article is inspired by the recent success of Japanese whiskies doing exceptionally well in terms of winning awards, as well as Nikka getting a lot of attention for founder Masataka Taketsuru’s story being made into a television miniseries in Japan.
The article provides some great background into Nikka, and has the following to say about Nikka Yoichi 15-Year-Old Single Malt:
“Situated in the far north of Japan, the distillery’s site was chosen for its similarities to Scotland. This is a complex whisky with fruity notes of apple and an undernote of peat. There’s also a spicy note, almost Speyside in style, and with time there’s a real sweetness.” Read the full article here.
We’re big on storytelling here at Anchor Distilling Company, so we’re excited to see inspired stories being told about our brands.
Ali Rosen of Potluck Video created a video from her recent trip to Japan and the Nikka Distilleries, which can be viewed above.
In an ever-present effort to stay whimsical and add new layers of educational-ness to the Anchor Distilling experience, we’re excited about our new bar garden on the roof. The garden is full of seasonal cocktail ingredients and other plants with a connection to the distilling process.
For a full overview of said garden, please check out the above video.
